The international exhibition "Shadow of the Night," which highlights the energy and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, is being presented at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 (URC) in Gdańsk. The project was initiated by the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation in partnership with Artists Support Ukraine.
The exposition features works by contemporary Ukrainian artists. Their art is dedicated to life during prolonged blackouts, when millions of people were left without electricity and heating, and some regions experienced power outages lasting several consecutive days.
Following successful showcases in Seattle, San Francisco, Vienna, and Kyiv, the Foundation is now presenting this project to international leaders, government officials, investors, business representatives, and donor organizations who are currently shaping the future of Ukraine's reconstruction.
“During the blackouts, Ukrainians lost more than just light. They lost their daily routines, their sense of security, and the ability to plan for tomorrow. ‘Shadow of the Night’ tells the story of this very experience—about people who learned to live, work, create, and support each other even in total darkness. This exhibition is about resilience that cannot be measured in kilowatts or investments,” stated Yuliana Onishchuk, Founder and CEO of the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation.
The project was developed in cooperation with Port of Culture and the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine. The Foundation also expresses its deep gratitude to its partners for their support: Mercy Corps Ukraine, SolarPower Europe, and Work.ua.
