ENERGY ACT FOR UKRAINE FOUNDATION

ACTIVITY REPORT 2025
The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation implements renewable energy solutions for schools, hospitals and water utilities. We develop educational programs in sustainable development and promote a culture of responsible energy consumption.
The winter of 2025-2026 has become one of the most challenging since the beginning of the full-scale war. Massive attacks on energy infrastructure and resource shortages created conditions where even basic needs — light, heat, and water — became a daily struggle. In these circumstances, our Foundation's work has become even more vital. Providing hospitals, schools and communities with reliable decentralized energy sources has transformed from a long-term solution into an urgent here and now necessity.
“Today, energy means more than just light. It means the ability to perform surgeries, keep intensive care units running, support the lives of newborns, ensure continuity of education and maintain the functioning of communities. In these conditions, it is important for us not only to respond but to act systematically. This year has once again shown that no organization can address these challenges alone. I am sincerely grateful to each of you for your trust, support and willingness to act together with us. There is still much work ahead. But together we have already proven that even in the most difficult times it is possible to create solutions that truly work.”
Yuliana Onishchuk,
CEO & Founder of the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation

As of early 2026, dozens of critical and social infrastructure facilities have already gained access to backup and partially autonomous power supplies through installed solar power plants. In the long term these solutions not only enhance community resilience but also deliver a significant environmental impact by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Medical facilities must remain operational despite power cuts and other challenges. Even a minute-long interruption to the power supply in an intensive care unit, maternity ward or operating theatre can be critical. That is why the Foundation is installing hybrid solar power plants in 50 hospitals over the next five years to ensure that healthcare professionals have the necessary conditions to provide expert care.
At the same time, the Foundation views energy transformation as more than just technical implementation. Educational programs for children, the development of professional opportunities in the renewable energy sector and engagement with local communities are integral to our approach, which is aimed at driving long-term change.

An elective course on sustainable development and green energy is being actively introduced in Ukrainian schools and for children in local communities. Ukraine’s future leaders are learning the principles of environmentally responsible behavior, incorporating sustainable habits into their daily lives and becoming even more conscious users of natural resources.

A highly relevant initiative for Ukraine aimed at engaging women in the green energy sector and implementing educational measures designed to simplify this transition.
The Solar Step program by the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation was created to strengthen Ukraine’s workforce potential in the solar energy sector and to provide women with opportunities for professional development in this field.
Project impact in figures:
-
1,457 applications from across Ukraine
-
61 participants selected for the course
-
51 graduates received certificates
-
24 participants achieved top scores (90–100)
BARRIERS AND CHALLENGES FACED BY WOMEN DURING THEIR CAREER TRANSITION INTO THE SOLAR ENERGY SECTOR

The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation has conducted a nationwide study entitled “Barriers and Challenges Faced by Women During Their Career Transition into the Solar Energy Sector”. The study surveyed 696 female respondents from all regions of the country (excluding active combat zones and temporarily occupied territories) and incorporated both quantitative and qualitative phases.
The findings of the study hold significant practical value: they identify key barriers to women’s integration into the solar energy industry and can form the basis for specific recommendations and initiatives aimed at the professional development for women within this field and across related sectors.
