The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation team took part in the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) — a leading international event dedicated to the recovery of Ukraine. This year, the conference was held on July 10–11 in Rome and brought together over 6,000 participants from around the world, including representatives of governments, businesses, international organizations, and civil society.
For the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation, participation in the conference was another step toward strengthening the energy resilience of communities, developing partnerships, and implementing inclusive solutions in the field of green transformation.
A key event within URC 2025 was the speech by Yuliana Onishchuk, CEO & Founder of the Foundation, who presented the findings of the study “Barriers and challenges faced by women during professional transition to the solar energy sector.” This is the first large-scale study in Ukraine to thoroughly analyzes the challenges women face when entering a predominantly “male” profession.
“We have a powerful pool of female potential that can become one of the main drivers of the country’s recovery. And gender inclusion in the energy sector is not just a matter of equality — it is a strategic resource for Ukraine’s future. Our study is the first step toward systemic solutions that will open new opportunities for thousands of Ukrainian women,” emphasized Yuliana Onishchuk during her speech.
During the conference, the foundation’s team also held a number of strategic meetings with representatives of international donors, partner organizations, and experts in the field of renewable energy. The outcomes of these discussions will lay the groundwork for new projects aimed at promoting sustainable energy and strengthening Ukraine’s energy independence.
Nearly 200 agreements and memoranda were signed during URC, totaling around €11 billion, which will be directed toward supporting Ukraine’s recovery. Notably, €1.5 billion in investments are planned to be mobilized for projects to construct approximately 1 GW of solar and wind energy capacity. The funds will be attracted through the Renewable Energy Risk Mitigation Mechanism in Ukraine, established by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Ukraine is expected to become a promising market for renewable energy.
