Dunaivtsi Lyceum No. 1, part of the Dunaivtsi City Council in Khmelnytskyi Region, has taken a significant step towards energy independence and the promotion of green energy in the region. Through the cooperation of the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation with GIZ and effective collaboration with the community, a hybrid solar power plant has been installed at the lyceum.
The school’s rooftop now hosts 42 solar panels with a total capacity of 24.36 kW. This solar station is designed to cover 54% of the school’s annual electricity consumption. This will allow the lyceum to save approximately €6,200 annually on electricity bills and reduce CO2 emissions by 612 tons over the next 25 years.
In addition to installing solar stations, the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation actively engages in educational activities, including programs for schoolchildren. At Dunaivtsi Lyceum, 72 students have completed the "Sustainable Development and Green Energy" course. Through this program, they learned about eco-friendly practices, renewable energy sources, and how to adopt sustainable habits in daily life.
Dunaivtsi Lyceum is one of five sites where the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation is installing solar stations as part of the "Renewable Energy for a Resilient Ukraine" project, implemented by a consortium of civil society organizations in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German government.
