September 1 registration opens for Solar Step — a free training course for women launched by the Ukrainian Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation. The program is made possible with the support of Mercy Corps in partnership with KSE Graduate Business School. Its main goal is to strengthen the workforce potential of the solar energy sector and provide women with opportunities for professional growth in this field.

Applications are open to women aged 18 and older who reside in Ukraine, wish to pursue a career as project managers in solar energy, and are ready to complete a 4-month free training program. Classes will be held in the evenings, making it possible to combine learning with ongoing work commitments.

Solar energy is developing rapidly worldwide. In 2024 alone, record investments were made in the renewable energy sector, including solar, for the first time surpassing funding directed toward the oil industry. Ukraine is also showing remarkable progress. According to the National Plan, by 2030 the share of renewables in the national energy system should reach 27%. This creates new opportunities for the economy and drives the demand for highly skilled professionals capable of advancing the country’s energy transition. The Solar Step program is designed to prepare exactly such specialists — women eager to begin their careers in solar energy.

The course curriculum is based on up-to-date knowledge and current market needs, with classes taught by experienced practitioners from leading solar energy companies in Ukraine. Participants will gain fundamental knowledge, hands-on skills, and access to a professional network that will enhance their chances of career success in the solar industry. Upon completion, the best graduates will receive official certificates and support in securing employment with top companies in the sector.

Registration will remain open until October 8, 2025.

Priority in the selection process will be given to: family members of fallen defenders, women veterans, demobilized servicewomen, internally displaced women, single mothers, women with incomes below the subsistence minimum, and women with disabilities.
