Central district hospital of Safianivka village council

Central district hospital of Safianivka village council operates in a region that has been regularly targeted by large-scale attacks on energy infrastructure since the start of the full-scale war. Prolonged power outages pose serious risks to the uninterrupted functioning of the hospital, especially for the surgical department and intensive care unit, where electricity supply is directly linked to patient safety.

To reduce the hospital’s dependence on the centralized power grid and diesel generators, The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation installed a hybrid solar power station at the facility in October 2025. From the very first months of operation, the system proved its effectiveness during extended blackouts, ensuring a stable power supply for critical medical equipment.

The 30 kW hybrid solar power station, equipped with an energy storage system with a capacity of 62.4 kWh, provides up to four hours of autonomous operation for the surgical department and intensive care unit in the event of a complete power outage. This enables emergency surgeries to continue, supports the operation of life-saving equipment, and preserves the hospital’s functionality even in the most challenging conditions.

The installation of the solar power station was implemented by The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation with the support of Huawei Ukraine, in cooperation with GlobalGiving and LONGi, as part of the Foundation’s “50 Solar Hospitals” project.
