ENERGY ACT FOR UKRAINE FOUNDATION
The solar power station was officially opened on February 18, 2026.
Borodianka Academic Lyceum (Kyiv region) is one of the key educational centers of the community. After the liberation of Borodianka in 2022, it became a symbol of recovery and resilience.
The lyceum building was the only administrative facility in the town that survived the destruction. After the community was liberated, it effectively became the heart of local life: the police, the local council, and social services all operated from here.
Today, the lyceum has returned to its main mission – educating children. Around 780 students study here every day, 150 young athletes train in sports programs, and the school hosts a music school, creative clubs, and an inclusive resource center serving 223 children.
At the end of 2025, the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation installed a hybrid solar power station at the lyceum as part of the “100 Solar Schools” project.

The 30 kW system includes 62 solar panels and an energy storage system with a capacity of 40 kWh.
The station generates approximately 41 MWh of electricity per year, covering 23% of the school’s annual energy consumption and providing up to four hours of backup power during blackouts.
Each year, the community will save more than €7,000, and over 25 years the station will help prevent 426 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Beyond providing reliable clean energy, the solar power station has also become part of the educational process. Based on the installation, students participated in the foundation’s course “Sustainable Development and Green Energy,” where they learned about the role of renewable energy in the future of Ukraine and the world.
The solar power plant for the lyceum was installed thanks to the support of the fund's partners: SVAROG, LIVOLTEK, KENO, and Pełni Energii. Octopus Energy is also a partner of the fund, supporting projects to install renewable energy and energy storage systems in schools and hospitals throughout Ukraine.
